  • Goodnight’s Guide to Trail Riding (Julie Goodnight and Heidi Nyland Melocco).

Introduction by Julie:

EVERY DAY I SPEND WITH HORSES I learn something new and think of ideas and scenarios that teach me more about horsemanship—and how horsemanship applies to all we do in life. I hope you’ll enjoy hearing about the lessons I’ve learned on the trail and the ideas I’ve pondered while riding and while prepping for long, leisurely rides. Before we get started with horsemanship how-to and training advice, take a moment to read a few lessons from my time on the trail . . .

I remember seeing Julie at a horse expo about 7 or 8 years ago. I was so impressed. Her no nonsense explanation of how to improve your riding was so simple and yet so incredibly helpful. My daughter and I sat there and watched for about an hour and we both felt we learned so much. She spoke so that we could easily understand what she meant. I have watched many of her shows on TV and she continues with the sweet and simple approach. When I saw that she was coming out with a book I was so excited and couldn’t wait to get it I was excited to buy it last week and what a great little read. Easy to read…easy to apply what you read to your next ride….no pomp…no circumstance…just helpful insight on training your horse for the trail. Helpful pictures…well put together book. Thanks Julie for a good read.
