The weather finally cooperated and I was able to try Julie’s method out. The first time we had rearing, etc. but he loaded. Had to keep him in the trailer (straight-load w/ramp) for about 20 minutes while he had a meltdown. Second time we had less of a fight and less trailer stress. The third time he followed me in. We stopped for the day and resumed today. He is now self loading! I still have treats waiting for him but I’ve gone from unknown minutes of struggle to point and click. Next, I’m going to move the trailer to a different spot and then on to my friend’s step up/slant load.

Following the advice that Julie gives on the DVD was a winning experience. Once the flag was used my horse just needs to see the flag to know I mean business and is happy to cooperate. He’s becoming a trailering pro! He now loads into any trailer not just his own.
    Oh my gosh it worked!
